Google Video Goes Beta

Well, it looks like there's yet another player in the internet video arena: Google. If you want to try some of the videos, you can go to http://video.google.com/.

It's still in the beta version, so don't expect the quality of Quicktime video.

What's interesting is that you don't need a visible plugin to install, if you already have Flash, that is. It appears that the video is played through your Flash player.

What kind of encoding is exactly being used is not clear. The purpose appears to be similar to Google Print, but in a video version.

According to Google, Google Video is not really a format but "Google's mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful."

In it's beta version, not all of it's links or channels work at this time. But it's an interesting concept and should soon be out of beta preview.
